Connecting AI Clients
Every AI client connects the same way: generate a connection in Taskip, then either paste its URL and secret into that client’s MCP configuration, or (for Claude’s web app) sign in through your browser.
-
Start a connection
Go to Settings → MCP Server in your Taskip workspace and click Set Up MCP. Pick the client you’re connecting from the list.
-
Generate — or sign in
For most clients, click Generate Connection to get:
- Endpoint URL —
https://mcp.taskip.net/mcp(the same URL for every client) - Secret — a unique value for this app (shown once, copy it immediately)
For Claude’s web app, there’s no secret to copy — pick Sign in now and Claude authenticates through your browser instead.
- Endpoint URL —
-
Paste it into your AI client
Follow the setup steps for your client below.
-
Try it
Ask your AI assistant something like “List my open leads” or “What’s the status of invoice #1042?” — if it calls a Taskip tool and returns real data, you’re connected.
Setup by client
For Claude’s web app (claude.ai), you sign in — there’s no secret to copy or paste.
- In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector and name it
Taskip. - Paste the MCP URL from Taskip (it must end with
/mcp). - If Claude shows “Couldn’t check the server”, click Continue anyway.
- Choose Sign in now — Claude opens your Taskip login in the browser.
- Enter the Taskip address you normally log in at, log in, then click Allow.
- Back in Claude, the connector shows as connected.
Edit your Claude Desktop config file:
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json - Windows:
%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
{ "mcpServers": { "taskip": { "url": "https://mcp.taskip.net/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_SECRET" } } }}Create the file with { } first if it doesn’t exist yet, save, then fully restart Claude
Desktop. Verify under Settings → Developer — Taskip’s tools appear in the tool picker.
claude mcp add --transport http taskip https://mcp.taskip.net/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SECRET"Verify the connection with claude mcp list. Taskip’s tools will appear in the tool picker.
- Press
Cmd+Shift+P(Mac) orCtrl+Shift+P(Windows), type MCP: Add Server, and select it. - Choose transport type HTTP, then paste the URL:
https://mcp.taskip.net/mcp. - Add a header:
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SECRET. - Enter the server name:
Taskip.
Requires an MCP-compatible extension installed in VS Code.
- Open Settings (
Cmd+,orCtrl+,). - Go to Tools & Integration → MCP Tools.
- Click Add Custom MCP and name it
Taskip. - Set the URL to
https://mcp.taskip.net/mcp. - Add a header:
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SECRET. - Save and reload Cursor. Taskip’s tools will be available in the AI panel.
ChatGPT connects as a custom connector, behind Developer Mode:
- Requires a ChatGPT Plus/Team/Enterprise account.
- Enable Developer Mode: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced → toggle it on.
- Go to Settings → Apps & Connectors and click Create App.
- Name it
Taskip, and set the URL tohttps://mcp.taskip.net/mcp. - Under Authentication, add a header:
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SECRET. - Click Create to finish connecting.
Any MCP-compatible client that speaks Streamable HTTP with custom headers can connect the same way. The two values you need are always:
- URL:
https://mcp.taskip.net/mcp - Header:
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SECRET
Most clients use the same mcpServers JSON shape shown in the tabs above:
{ "mcpServers": { "taskip": { "url": "https://mcp.taskip.net/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_SECRET" } } }}Refer to your client’s own documentation for where its MCP server config lives.
What to try first
- “What workspace am I connected to?”
- “List my open leads.”
- “Show me overdue tasks in [project name].”
- “Draft an invoice for [client name].”
