Time Tracking Settings

Time Tracking Settings control how timers and hours behave for your whole workspace. Open them from Settings → Time Tracking. You need the Time Tracking settings permission to change anything.

The page has up to three tabs.

Workspace Settings

  • Allow multiple running timers. Off by default. When off, starting a new timer stops the one already running for that person.
  • Stale timer threshold (minutes). If Taskip has not heard from a running timer for this long, the timer is stopped automatically and the person is asked to review it (see How to Use the Time Tracking Page).
  • Rounding increment (minutes). Rounds each entry to a neat block, for example 15 minutes. Enter 0 to switch rounding off.
  • Rounding mode. Nearest, Up or Down.
  • Default currency. Used for billable amounts.
  • First day of week. Decides where your timesheet weeks start.
  • Working hours per day. Used to judge whether a day is missing hours and to measure workload.

Click Save after changing anything.

Billing Profiles

A billing profile is a saved set of billing defaults you can reuse, so you do not type rates for every project.

  1. Click New profile.
  2. Give it a Name.
  3. Choose the Billing type: Hourly, Fixed price, Retainer, Non-billable or Internal.
  4. Set the Default billable rate (what you charge) and the Default cost rate (what the work costs you).
  5. Choose the Currency.
  6. Set Lock period (days): after this many days, entries can no longer be changed.
  7. Tick Set as workspace default if new projects should use it.
  8. Click Create.

Budget Policy

This tab is only shown to the workspace owner. It decides how project budgets, alerts and requests for more budget work. It is explained in full in How to Track Time in a Project.
